Ochsner Center for Nursing & Allied Health at Delgado Community College

In August 2021, Durr Heavy Construction was awarded the sitework and underground utilities contract by The Lemoine Company, LLC for the new Delgado Community College Nursing and Allied Health Building located at the corner of City Park Avenue and Orleans Avenue on Delgado’s City Park Campus. The $38.6 million facility, funded largely through a partnership with Ochsner Health, serves as the new home of Delgado’s Charity School of Nursing and Division of Allied Health.

Durr’s work began with the initial site development of the former parking lot, including installation of the building pad and erosion control measures to protect the environment during construction activities. This phase was completed within one month. Following substantial progress on the building structure, Durr remobilized in August 2022 to complete the remaining site development scope, which included installation of underground utilities, an underground stormwater retention (R-Tank) system, sub-base preparation for paving, and final sitework improvements. Through careful coordination and phased execution, Durr successfully delivered the critical infrastructure necessary to support this state-of-the-art educational facility.

This project earned Durr Heavy Construction a national Excellence in Construction Eagle Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in the Specialty Contractors, Sitework/Landscape/Hardscape category.
