Darrow Blue Energy Ammonia Storage Area Grading

In July 2024, Durr Heavy Construction was awarded a $6 million contract by Group Contractors to execute a key portion of the civil and site development work for the Darrow Blue Energy Ammonia Storage facility in Sorrento, Louisiana. The scope of work included the installation of stormwater pollution prevention measures (SWPPP), clearing and grubbing of dense vegetation, excavation of a large pond, and the installation of 24” reinforced concrete pipe arch (RCPA) drainage systems. Additionally, Durr performed extensive subgrade preparation by removing unsuitable soils and installing geotextile filter fabric, followed by the placement of sand, #610 limestone, and soil cement stabilization to ensure long-term site integrity.
This project earned Durr Heavy Construction a National Excellence in Construction Pyramid Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in the Specialty Contractors, Sitework/Landscape/Hardscape category.
