Christopher “Chris” Black

Christopher “Chris” Black serves as the Manager of Project Development for Durr Heavy Construction. He originally joined the company in September 2017 and returned to his current role in May 2025. With nearly 30 years of construction leadership experience, Chris brings a broad and seasoned background spanning heavy civil, industrial, deep foundations, maritime, and construction materials sectors.
A native of Kenner, Louisiana, Chris attended St. Catherine of Siena and Brother Martin High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Management from the University of New Orleans. His professional career began in the construction materials industry, where he spent nearly two decades before transitioning into business development roles within the industrial and heavy civil construction sectors. His experience also includes serving as Executive Vice President of Construction for a major regional restaurant chain.
Chris is a proud U.S. Army veteran, retiring in 2018 after 29 years of service in both the Army and the Louisiana National Guard. He has served on the board of the Louisiana Asphalt Association and has been an active member of multiple committees within the Associated Builders and Contractors, representing both the Pelican and Bayou chapters.
Deeply committed to his community, Chris is involved with St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville and participates in ACTS Mission Retreats and Manresa.
He and his wife, Kristine, reside in Geismar, Louisiana, and have three adult children. In his free time, Chris enjoys traveling, hunting, and fishing.
