Durr Volunteers in Hammond, LA for the Special Olympics Louisiana Summer Games
This past weekend, Durr volunteers were out in force to support the annual Special Olympics Louisiana (SOLA) Summer Games in Hammond, LA. Every year in the month of May, athletes from around the state come together on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University to participate in athletic competitions.
The athletes who participate in the Summer Games previously qualified in local events. Throughout the year, according to SOLA’s web site, “14,880 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Louisiana participate in over approximately 100 competitions.”
For the last 16 years, Durr has donated time and resources to help make the very popular “Olympic Town” a reality. Olympic Town is a special area set aside at the Games for the participants to relax and play between their events.
Durr is proud to support the Special Olympics Louisiana Summer Games. Read here to learn more about this wonderful organization and how you can help.
