HARAHAN, LA –Durr Heavy Construction, LLC today announced its work on the Darrow Blue Energy Ammonia Storage Area Grading in Sorrento, LA has earned a national Excellence in Construction^® Pyramid Award, which was presented during ABC Convention 2026 in Salt Lake City on March 19.

The EIC Awards celebrate 86 of the nation’s top construction projects from 2025, including school relocations; convention center, courthouse and beach resort renovations; and the construction of science parks, apartments and hospitals, as well as honoring contractors for their remarkable achievements in leadership, health and safety, innovation and merit.

The $6 million civil and site development project included large-scale earthwork, drainage infrastructure, and subgrade stabilization across a 37-acre site, supporting a facility designed to reduce carbon emissions and drive regional economic growth. Despite complex logistics involving multiple contractors, high-volume hauling operations, and sensitive environmental and cultural considerations, Durr delivered the project ahead of schedule and under budget, with zero rework and no safety incidents. The project highlights Durr’s commitment to innovation, quality, and excellence in execution on high-impact infrastructure.

The EIC Awards honor each member of the construction team, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects are judged on complexity, unique challenges overcome, completion time, innovation and safety.

A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year’s judges included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the Construction Owners Association of America, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the National Institute of Building Sciences, ShareBuilt, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and other select construction-related organizations nationwide.

Durr Earns Three Excellence in Construction Awards from ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter

Durr received top honors at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) New Orleans/Bayou Chapter Awards Gala held on November 7, 2024. Durr was presented with Excellence in Construction Awards for its work on the Woman’s Hospital Flood Prevention project in Baton Rouge, LA, the Bonnabel Greenway project in Metairie, LA, and the Costco Covington project in Covington, LA.

The Excellence in Construction Awards honor the region’s most outstanding projects, recognizing contractors who demonstrate excellence in safety, quality, innovation, and overall project execution. Each of these projects reflects Durr’s ability to successfully manage complex site conditions, maintain strong coordination with project partners, and deliver high-quality results.

The Woman’s Hospital Flood Prevention Project involved critical earthwork and drainage improvements designed to enhance flood protection for a vital healthcare facility. The Bonnabel Greenway showcased careful planning and execution within an active corridor, including coordination around traffic, utilities, and the preservation of existing trees. At Costco Covington, Durr completed a large-scale site development project, delivering the infrastructure needed to support a major retail facility while meeting demanding schedules and performance expectations.
