I-10 New Orleans Damage Repair
Together with the State of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD), Durr Heavy Construction completed repairs to the I-10 High Rise Bridge, a critical thoroughfare for commuters and cargo transportation in the New Orleans regional area. Durr repaired the damaged bridge by installing a Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strengthening system. The CFRP system works in conjunction with high strength mortars to strengthen and restore the bridge’s structural integrity.
A crucial portion of the project involved a ten (10) day window in which one lane of the I-10 High Rise was closed to facilitate repairs to the critical structural components underneath the bridge. During this phase, Durr removed the temporary shoring system that was previously installed and successfully repaired the underside deck and girders of the bridge. Durr worked a total of 2,000 plus man-hours during these ten (10) days in order to successfully complete the repairs and meet the LaDOTD required deadline.
