In Memory of Sidney (Cooky) Ordoyne

1950 – 2022

Sidney (Cooky) Joseph Ordoyne Jr. passed away on October 02, 2022 at the age of 72.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  Cooky was the retired Equipment Manager for Durr Heavy Construction, but he remained the resident cook and was one of the first “Rhinos”.  He lived for his grandchildren, Durr and was Jeff Gordon’s #1 fan. He was a longtime resident of River Ridge and took great pleasure in volunteering for the Special Olympics (Olympic Town), cooking his famous Jambalaya at the St. Rita Parish Pecan Fest, being an active member of Hogs for the Cause, being an active member of Dega Nation, and most importantly, spending time with his family. If there was a charitable event, Cooky was always there to help the cause.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 51 years, Katherine Hebert Ordoyne; his children Sharon Ordoyne Husley (Jeremy) and Steven Joseph Ordoyne (Tanya); his grandchildren Gordon Anthony Styron, Abby Marie Ordoyne, and Blake Joseph Ordoyne. He is the son of the late Sidney Joseph Ordoyne Sr. and the late Doris Bonvillian Ordoyne; brother of Lawrence “BB” Paul Ordoyne (Linda), Reginald “Nookie” Joseph Ordoyne (Martha), and Mamie Ordoyne Lamonte (Bubba). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Harahan Lions Club, 1001 Hickory Avenue, Harahan, LA on Saturday, November 19th at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
