Durr is proud to be improving the streets of New Orleans one neighborhood at a time
Since April 2018, Durr Heavy Construction has been working with The City of New Orleans and the Department of Public Works on the Capital Improvement Program.
Durr Heavy Construction is acting as the construction contractor for the Westbank Group A project, which includes the following scope of work:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new smooth pavement
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way
According to Roadwork.nola.gov, the Capital Improvement Program includes “more than $2.3B worth of DPW / SWB work,” and is the “most comprehensive infrastructure program our region has seen in a generation.”
The program also includes more than 200 individual projects, meaning the impact will be felt far and wide throughout New Orleans.
In addition to street repairs, the Westbank Group A crew has been installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-Compliant curb ramps on neighborhood sidewalk corners. These accessibility ramps will aid the physically or visually impaired, along with those using strollers or wheelchairs.
Durr is currently working in the Whitney neighborhood and is planning on moving to the Algiers Point neighborhood next month. As of this September, Durr’s Westbank Group A crew has repaired 21 streets and counting. The Westbank Group A Project, which began in April 2018 is set to last 16 months and be completed in Fall of 2019.
