St. James Rail Terminal

Durr Heavy Construction created roughly 4 miles of new rail spur as part of the expansion of Plains All American Pipeline, LP’s crude oil import/export facility in St. James Parish, LA. Because this project was located in a sugarcane field, there was little to no positive drainage for Durr to shed storm water. Durr strategically excavated areas that could be backfilled in the same day, thus never allowing rain to hinder the project’s progress. Served by the Union Pacific Railroad, the St. James terminal has an initial capacity of 65,000 barrels a day and is capable of handling both manifest and unit train shipments from a variety of oil-producing areas in the United States and Canada.
