Quarterly Safety Meeting
Honors Durr’s Team Members
HARAHAN, LA (February 20, 2008) –
Durr Heavy Construction, LLC held its quarterly safety meeting on Tuesday at Lafreniere Park’s Foundation Center in Metairie.After a brief update on current jobs, Freddy Yoder, Durr’s President, turned the program over to Operations Manager James Turner for an update on last quarters’ accidents and incidents.
“Everyone has done a really good job of keeping our accident rates down but there is always room to do better,” Turner said. “We have to be aware of our surroundings and keep focused.”
Of the 103 team members, 99 were in attendance and 21 were honored for their dedication to safety by being accident-free, attending all quarterly safety meetings and over 75% of the weekly tailgate safety sessions.
Each of the 21 team members received a gym bag, hat and sweatshirt featuring Durr’s trademark rhino and a chance to win their share of $7,750. The top prize of $1,000 was given to James Allen, a 21 year member of the Durr team.
“‘Safety First’ isn’t just a slogan we toss around lightly, it is a philosophy we believe in and strive to uphold each and everyday,” Yoder said.
