Durr Walks to Find a Cure for Blood Cancer

HARAHAN, LA (October 3, 2009) –

The night sky was alive with illuminated balloons as the New Orleans chapter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society held its annual “Light the Night” fundraising walk with over 3,000 walkers joining in the fight against blood cancers.

This was the first time Durr Heavy Construction entered a walk team.  Named “Team Camille,” the group walked in honor of Durr’s north shore estimator Lonnie Reynolds’ daughter, Camille, who is fighting leukemia.

Robert and Alasia StewartThe team was comprised of Durr employees Patricia Davis, Swanika Johnson, Kristen Nicholson, Sue San Martin and Robert Stewart.  Other family and friends included Noel Augustine, Chris Enfinger, Kylah Johnson, Barry Nicholson, Jennie Nicholson, Kenny Perret and Alasia Stewart.  The team raised $2,810.14 and was ranked #16 overall for the most money raised.

“This was a wonderful experience and I am so glad that I was able to participate with my daughter,” said low-boy driver Robert Stewart.
