Durr Participates in LLS Walk
HARAHAN, LA (October 9, 2010) –
The night sky was alive with illuminated balloons as the New Orleans chapter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society held its annual “Light the Night” fundraising walk at Lafreniere Park in Metairie with over 3,000 walkers joining in the fight against blood cancers.
This was the second time Durr Heavy Construction entered a walk team. Named “Durr Heavy Construction - Team Camille,” the group walked in honor of Durr’s north shore estimator Lonnie Reynolds’ daughter, Camille, who was diagnosed with leukemia in June 2009. She is currently in remission.
The team was comprised of Durr employees Patricia Lynn Doar, Kristen Nicholson, Lonnie Reynolds, Sue San Martin and James Turner. Other family and friends included Denise Auguillard, Summer Bosarge, Betty and Bob Cathers, Ely Garcia, Nicole Henry, Barry and Jennie Nicholson, and Andrew, Camille, Casey, Hannah, Stacie and Ross Reynolds.
The team raised $4,484.50 and was ranked #6 overall for the most money raised.
“This was a wonderful experience and I am so glad that I was able to participate in this worthwhile event,” said Doar.
Plans are already underway for next year's team. Contact Kristen Nicholson at 504-737-3205 if you are interested in participating in this great event.
