Durr Named a Best Place To Work

HARAHAN, LA (December 11, 2009) –

For the fifth year in a row, Durr Heavy Construction was chosen one of the best places to work by the editors of CityBusiness magazine.

After receiving nominations from companies and employees, CityBusiness selected 35 honorees in the large business category and 15 honorees in the small business category.  Companies were selected based on how well they treated their employees and were judged in categories including salary, benefits, vacation time, bonus perks and in-house development.

The award is anything but accidental.  "From the start, we wanted to create a working environment where everyone was not only working well together but was also a part of the process where their input was valued and they were not regarded as just an entity,” said Freddy Yoder, president and COO.

Outside of the office, Durr plays an active role in the community.  Among its dozens of initiative in the past year, the company held a toy drive for the children of Lafitte after hurricanes Gustav and Ike and generated 1,200 pounds of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
