Durr Receives SMPS Awards

HARAHAN, LA (November 11, 2010) –

The Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) held its second annual SeLAbration Gala on Thursday, November 11th at the Westin New Orleans.  Durr Heavy Construction, LLC was honored to bring home two marketing awards: Best Community Project and Best Corporate Identity Program.

“We are thrilled to receive these awards from our peers in the Engineering, Architecture and Construction industry,” said Kristen Nicholson, Director of Marketing for Durr Heavy Construction.  “Durr is truly honored to be recognized for our community efforts as well as our brand identity initiatives.”

Durr received the Best Community Project award for its efforts to raise funds for both the Haitian earthquake victims as well as those affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  The company created a 400+ page cookbook of recipes gathered from employees, family, friends and New Orleans chefs.  They then sold the cookbooks via their website, www.durrhc.com, for $20 each with all proceeds being donated to either Catholic Charities Haitian Relief Efforts or the United Way’s Oil Spill Fund.  Cookbooks are still available for purchase.

The second award received highlighted the efforts Durr has taken to create a solid corporate identity program.  This includes the color schemes used on all collateral, use of rhino imagery and logo as well as phrasing and mission statement placement.
