Richard Mire received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 1969 and his Professional Engineers License in 1974. Prior to that, he attended De La Salle High School in New Orleans.
Mire joined Durr Heavy Construction in 2003 after more than 30 years working for three of the largest highway and heavy construction contractors in Louisiana. As a member of senior management, his responsibilities extended into Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama, where he served on various association boards including the AGC and ABC. In 1987, after serving as Chairman of the Highway & Heavy Division for the Louisiana AGC, he was presented with the “Mover & Shaker Award” in recognition of his work in promoting innovative thinking and prompting the LaDOTD to modify and adopt a new Standard Specifications Manual for Roads and Bridges.
Richard and his wife Beverly have been married for over 27 years and have four grandchildren and a Maltese puppy that does not leave Beverly’s side. They appreciate collecting fine wines and take pleasure in sharing them with family and friends. They enjoy relaxed travel around the United States and shopping for antiques in Europe for their home and Beverly’s antique store in New Orleans.
