Henry “Freddy” Yoder is President and COO of Durr Heavy Construction, a New Orleans-based construction company specializing in demolition, site preparation and utilities. Freddy began work in the construction field in 1966 as a field engineer and has continued his passion for construction ever since. In 1987, he was hired as Durr’s president and has help grow the company into one of the top construction firms in Louisiana.
Yoder is a graduate of Loyola University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and concentrations in Economic and Personnel Management. He has subsequently graduated from the FMI Leadership Institute, the Fails Management Institute of Advance Training for Executives and Training for Foreman and Supervisory Personnel. He is also certified in Concrete and Asphalt Construction through the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and is a member of the American Concrete Institute. Additionally, he is certified through the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality as an Asbestos Contractor for Supervisors.
Yoder served as a member of the United States Navy Submarine Corp and was a graduate of the School for Submarine Indoctrination and Certification from Nuclear Power Submarine School, New London, Ct. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1971 and returned to his home in New Orleans and married Ann Marie Prattini. They have been married for over 38 years and are the proud parents of four beautiful children and six grandchildren.
Yoder is the Chairman of the Greater New Orleans Construction Task Force, Vice President of the District 5 Rebuild Lakeview Committee, Chairman of the Lakeview Maintenance District, Vice President Lakeview Crime Prevention District, Chairman of the Harrison Avenue Economic Development District, Chairman of the St. Dominic Rebuild Committee, Chairman of the St. Dominic Finance Committe, Past Vice President of the Beacon of Hope Resource Center, Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel #3729, 10-year Co-Chairman of the Annual Lakeview Fest, Past President and presently Vice-President of the Lakeview Civic Improvement Association, Member of the DeLaSalle Building Committee and for the 28th year, Director of the St. Dominic Youth Baseball and Basketball programs.
Yoder and his family are active leaders in St. Dominic Parish and their community of Lakeview. They continue to work toward the rebuilding and to the complete recovery of their home, their neighborhood and the city that they so love.
